Jang Yu-bin becomes first multiple winner on KPGA Tour this season, eyes third straight victory

Jang Yu-bin has become the first player to achieve multiple wins on the Korean Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) Tour this season, clinching the Hana Bank Invitational title. This victory marks his second consecutive win, following his triumph at the previous KPGA Classic with IMBITA.

Competing at Namchuncheon Country Club in Gangwon, the 24-year-old Jang carded a final round of 5-under par, bringing his total score to 10-under par 274. This performance edged out his closest competitor, Kim Min-jun, by a single stroke. Jang had steadily climbed the leaderboard throughout the tournament, moving from 8th after the first round to 7th and then 6th before his final-round surge.

Thinking about the 2024 season, it still feels like a dream. I played so well, I don't even know how I did it. The experience from that year is truly significant. The experience gained year after year is nurturing me, and this season's experience has quickly led me to victory.

With this win, Jang Yu-bin has ascended to the top of both the Genesis points standings and the prize money rankings for the 2024 season. His success builds on a remarkable 2023 debut season, where he captured numerous accolades including the Genesis Grand Prize, prize money king, and the lowest scoring average award.

Looking ahead, Jang is set to compete in next week's tournament at Gunsan Country Club, where he will aim for a third consecutive victory and his sixth career win. Notably, Gunsan CC holds special significance for Jang, as it is where he secured his first amateur win in 2023 and achieved his second victory in the 2024 tournament, marking two wins at the venue already. He expressed his excitement about the opportunity to challenge for a historic three-win streak, stating his intention to play aggressively.
