Jason Momoa revealed as Blanka in new 'Street Fighter' movie trailer

The upcoming live-action adaptation of "Street Fighter" has unveiled its first look at Jason Momoa in character as the iconic Blanka. The trailer, released by Paramount Pictures and Legendary, also teases a highly anticipated confrontation between Blanka and Ryu, a central figure in the beloved Capcom franchise.

The preview offers fans a glimpse of Momoa's portrayal of the wild, Brazilian warrior, highlighting his physical presence and performance. It promises to bring many of the video game's signature moves and supernatural abilities to the big screen. The trailer depicts Blanka easily defeating several prisoners before facing Ryu, who is played by Andrew Koji.

Fans can expect to see classic "Street Fighter" elements brought to life, including Ryu's signature Hadouken energy blast and Blanka's electrifying attacks. Visual cues inspired by "Street Fighter II," such as Blanka's electrical discharge causing an opponent's skeleton to briefly appear, are included as nods to the game's history.

Directed by Kitao Sakurai with a screenplay by Dalan Musson, the film boasts a star-studded cast. Alongside Momoa and Koji, Noah Centineo stars as Ken, with other notable actors including Callina Liang as Chun-Li, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson as Balrog, and Roman Reigns as Akuma. The film is slated to hit theaters on October 16, 2026.
