Jay-Z Subject of Upcoming HBO Documentary Series 'Jay-Z in 8'

Hip-hop mogul Jay-Z is set to be the focus of an upcoming eight-part documentary series on HBO, titled "Jay-Z in 8." The series promises an in-depth exploration of the artist's influential career, delving into his music, lyrical artistry, life experiences, and creative methodologies.

Directed by legendary music producer Rick Rubin, known for his long-standing collaborative history with Jay-Z, the documentary will feature conversations between the two artists. Rubin's production credits include Jay-Z's 2003 hit "99 Problems" from "The Black Album." The series is produced by Tetragrammaton, with Jay-Z (Shawn Carter), Daniel Kaluuya, and Rick Rubin serving as executive producers.

The series announcement arrives during a landmark year for Jay-Z, who is celebrating major anniversaries of two of his most acclaimed albums: 30 years since the release of "Reasonable Doubt" and 25 years since "The Blueprint." These milestones are being commemorated with a series of concerts and special events globally.

Jay-Z recently returned to the stage as a headliner at the Roots Picnic festival, performing a mix of his biggest hits and lesser-known tracks. This performance also served as a celebration of his career and the city of Philadelphia, with numerous guests joining him on stage. He is also scheduled for three consecutive concerts at Yankee Stadium in July, dedicated to "Reasonable Doubt," "The Blueprint," and his greatest hits, respectively. Additional concerts, "Jay-Z 30," are planned for Paris in September and Los Angeles in October.
