JD Vance’s mother says she would ‘probably punch’ Senate candidate over remarks about his family

Beverly Vance Aikins, the mother of US Vice President JD Vance, said she would “probably punch” Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed over remarks about Vance’s family.

“I’d probably punch the guy if I ever seen him, and then that would get me in trouble,” Aikins told OutKick and Fox News host Tomi Lahren. “So, I’ll just go with the flow.”

Aikins said El-Sayed’s comments angered her because he did not know JD Vance or “what type of person he is.” She said she believed jealousy explained the remarks, pointing to Vance’s position as vice president, his wife and their four children.

According to Fox News, El-Sayed previously referred to Vance’s “brown kids” and suggested they might eventually question their father’s political views. He also appeared to urge Usha Vance to leave her husband, saying, “Usha get out ... you’ve still got time.”

El-Sayed later invoked Usha Vance on X after the vice president criticized his earlier claim that efforts to ban Sharia law stemmed from white supremacy. “So do we think JD is taking Usha with him back in time to meet Papaw, or no...” he wrote.

Vance responded at a political rally in Sterling Heights, Michigan, where he was campaigning for Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers. “Whatever you want to talk about, Abdul, keep my wife’s name the hell out of your mouth because she’s way out of your league,” Vance said. He was particularly sensitive to the comments because Usha Vance had given birth to their fourth child five weeks earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported.
