Jeju Samdasoo Masters opens qualifying for local golf hopefuls to join KLPGA tour

Jeju Samdasoo is creating a pathway for local golf talent to compete on the professional stage by hosting a qualifying tournament for the upcoming KLPGA tour event. The application period for the qualifier runs from July 1 to July 8, with the competition itself scheduled for July 12 at the Teddy Valley Golf & Resort in Seogwipo.

This annual event offers golfers residing in Jeju, or their children, a unique opportunity to vie for a spot in the prestigious Jeju Samdasoo Masters. A total of eight players will earn berths into the main tournament: five professionals and three amateurs. Participants are responsible for field usage and caddie fees, though there is no separate entry fee.

The 13th Jeju Samdasoo Masters, boasting a total prize purse of 1 billion won (approximately $720,000 USD) with a winner's prize of 180 million won, is set to commence in the latter half of August. This tournament serves as the opening event for the second half of the 2026 KLPGA Tour season. The organizers aim to transform the event into a community-focused sports festival under the theme 'Enjoy Drinking Because It's a Festival,' fostering engagement between golf fans and local residents.

Jeju Development Corporation, the organizer, stated its commitment to ensuring the selection process serves as a foundation for nurturing talent and revitalizing sports culture. Beyond identifying top local talent, the event also aims to showcase the skills of these emerging players alongside the established stars of the KLPGA Tour. The corporation also encouraged corporate and private sector involvement in supporting national sports development through sponsorships.
