Jelena Janković to promote Expo 2027 in Belgrade

Former world No. 1 tennis player Jelena Janković has been appointed the promoter for the upcoming Expo 2027 in Belgrade, a move announced by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.

Expo for Serbia is more than that. For us, Expo is also the development of Serbia, investment in different parts of Serbia and the fact that you will promote your country and be here with us – is of enormous importance for the country.

Vučić emphasized the immense significance of the exhibition for Serbia's development, calling it "the most important thing" and predicting it will be "the biggest event next year in the whole world." He anticipates record-breaking participation from countries and organizations, highlighting the exhibition's role in fostering development and investment across Serbia.

Janković stated that she is honored to serve as an ambassador for Expo 2027. She recalled her career, during which she always strived to represent her country with "great pride and love." The exhibition's slogan, "Play for Humanity," she explained, encourages people to find common ground despite differences and be part of something larger than themselves.

Throughout my entire career, I have tried to represent the country in the best possible way from the heart and with great pride and love.

During their meeting, President Vučić presented Janković with a jewelry box adorned with motifs from Dušan's Code, an ancient Serbian legal text. In return, Janković gifted the president a tennis racket, symbolizing their shared connection to the sport.
