This 'JUIC Triangle' aims to transform Saemangeum into a national strategic industry hub, with a particular focus on the defense sector and secondary batteries.

The university's focus on the defense industry is fueled by the recent surge in 'K-Defense' exports, which have surpassed $55 billion in the last five years. This growth is attributed to the evolving global security landscape, marked by the prolonged Russia-Ukraine war and escalating conflicts in the Middle East. Advancements in artificial intelligence and unmanned technologies are also key drivers.

Jeonbuk National University is forging collaborations with global defense firms like Boeing and Thales. The university's strategy emphasizes nurturing specialized talent and fostering research and development to meet the demands of the rapidly advancing defense market.
