Jeong In-wook Academic Scholarship Foundation Awards 100 Million Won to Five Doctoral and Master's Students in Forestry

The Jeong In-wook Academic Scholarship Foundation, a philanthropic arm of the Sam Pyo Group, is investing significantly in the future of forestry research. The foundation announced it will award a total of 100 million Korean won (approximately $75,000 USD) to five doctoral and master's students specializing in forestry and forestry engineering.

This initiative, known as the '5th Forestry Pioneer Cultivation Scholarship Program,' held its award ceremony on August 25th at the Sonocom Yeosu Grand Ballroom in Jeollanam-do. The program, organized in conjunction with the Korean Forest Society's summer conference, aims to foster researchers who can develop practical technologies, processes, and systems applicable to the forestry industry, alongside fundamental research.

Since its inception in 2022, the foundation has supported five students annually. This year's recipients were selected through a rigorous application and interview process conducted by the Korean Forest Society. Each scholar will receive a monthly stipend of 1 million won for up to two years, amounting to a total of 24 million won per student.

These funds are intended to allow the students to dedicate themselves fully to their research projects. The outcomes of their work, focusing on technological advancements and system improvements within the forestry sector, will be disseminated through presentations at academic conferences and publications in peer-reviewed journals. The foundation also supports young adults preparing for independence, highlighting a broader commitment to societal well-being.
