Jereem Richards and Keshorn Walcott Set to Represent Trinidad and Tobago at Diamond League Final

Jereem “The Dream” Richards and Keshorn Walcott will carry Trinidad and Tobago’s colours at the 2026 Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels.

Richards lines up in the men’s 400 metres at 3:52 p.m. Trinidad and Tobago time. The eight-man field includes Botswana’s reigning world champion Collen Kebinatshipi, Britain’s 2024 Olympic silver medallist Matthew Hudson-Smith, South Africa’s Zakithi Nene, Americans Khaleb McRae, Jacory Patterson and Chris Bailey, and Belgium’s Daniel Segers.

Richards took silver behind Kebinatshipi at last year’s World Athletics Championships and sits fifth in the world rankings. The Point Fortin quarter-miler has broken 45 seconds six times this season. His personal best is 43.72 seconds, and he has shown that he can return to the 43-second range. His fastest time this year, 44.44, came at the Herculis EBS Wanda Diamond League meeting in Monaco on July 10. He later won Commonwealth Games silver in Glasgow on Aug. 1 with a run of 44.82.

Walcott competes the following day in the men’s javelin, scheduled for 2:40 p.m. Trinidad and Tobago time. The reigning world champion ranks fifth globally. Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Pathirage, the world’s top-ranked thrower, is favoured for gold after producing a season’s best of 92.62 metres. Walcott’s best throw of 2026 is 83.71 metres, while Grenada’s Anderson Peters has reached 86.93 metres.
