Jeungpyeong County Opens Era of Free Buses

Jeungpyeong County has ushered in an era of free public transportation, allowing residents to ride buses anywhere within the county without charge. The county officially announced the implementation of the free rural bus service on the 3rd.

The free service now covers all five bus routes originating from Jeungpyeong and heading to destinations such as Sotjeongmal, Songjeong-ri, Songsan-ri, Namha-ri, and Gwangdeoksa. Additionally, five inter-county routes connecting Jeungpyeong with neighboring Goesan County are also included in the free program. The county is currently in discussions with Jincheon and Eumseong counties to extend this free service to routes connecting to those areas.

To further assist residents in transportation-vulnerable areas like Yeontan-ri, Namha 3rd and 4th neighborhoods, and Doan Elementary School, Jeungpyeong County is also operating a "Happy Dream Bus." This service utilizes two 25-seater buses.

Kim Da-young, an official from the Jeungpyeong County Transportation Administration Team, stated, "We have launched the free rural bus service to enhance the mobility and transportation welfare of the transportation-vulnerable and all citizens." This initiative underscores the county's commitment to improving the quality of life for its residents through accessible and affordable public transit.
