Jiabei Elementary School and Jiasong Chamber Ensemble Create Original Musical, Leaving Graduates Precious Memories

Chiayi City's Jiabei Elementary School partnered with the Jiasong Chamber Ensemble to adapt the classic picture book "Rainbow Duck" into an original musical. The performance featured nearly 100 students and the ensemble, combining music, drama, chorus, and physical theater.

This musical was originally scheduled for early June but was forced to postpone due to fire safety issues at the Chiayi County Performing Arts Center.

Originally performed in a percussion version, the musical was reimagined for a concert band, with a professional creative team rewriting the script and music. This transformation resulted in a unique original work specifically for Jiabei Elementary's concert band program.

Facing cancellation, moving to the school campus, or finding a new venue all required emergency response and re-planning.

The performance faced a setback when it was postponed due to fire safety issues at the Chiayi County Performing Arts Center. Despite the challenges, the school community, including parents, teachers, and students, worked together to reschedule the event. The musical was successfully staged at the Chiayi City Cultural Affairs Bureau Concert Hall on June 24, teaching students the value of perseverance.

Through the joint efforts of parents, teachers, students, and the team, the performance was successfully held on the 24th at the Chiayi City Cultural Affairs Bureau Concert Hall, allowing children to experience the precious value of persevering in the face of difficulties.

Many graduating sixth-grade students returned to participate in rehearsals, leaving them with precious memories of their time in the school's concert band. Older students played in the orchestra pit, fourth-graders took on acting roles, and third-graders contributed with their singing, showcasing a spirit of inter-grade artistic education and mentorship.
