JICA enhances support for Nagdhunga tunnel with additional loan

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has further bolstered its commitment to Nepal's infrastructure development by extending an additional Official Development Assistance (ODA) Loan. The new funding amounts to 5.7 billion Japanese Yen, specifically earmarked for the "Nagdhunga Tunnel Construction Project."

This latest financial injection significantly increases JICA's total investment in the crucial tunnel project. With this additional loan, the cumulative funding now surpasses 22 billion Japanese Yen, underscoring Japan's dedication to supporting Nepal's development goals. The Exchange of Notes formalizing this assistance was signed by Ghanashyam Upadhaya, Secretary at Nepal's Ministry of Finance.

The Nagdhunga Tunnel is a key infrastructure initiative aimed at improving transportation and connectivity in the Kathmandu Valley. The project's successful completion is expected to alleviate traffic congestion and facilitate smoother movement of goods and people, contributing to economic growth and improved quality of life in the region.
