Jinja Set for Football, Entertainment Extravaganza As Mwiri League Season 6 Ends

Jinja City is gearing up for the grand finale of the Mwiri League Season 6, powered by Guinness, scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the Ruck Yard. This season-closing event promises a full day dedicated to football, entertainment, and fostering alumni fellowship, all under a retro theme.

Mwiri League Chairman Shadrack Olinga confirmed that preparations are complete, inviting all Busoga College Mwiri alumni, football enthusiasts, and supporters to join the celebration of another successful season. This year's finale introduces a new format with two distinct knockout competitions. The top eight teams from the season standings will compete for the prestigious Shield title, while the remaining eight teams will vie for the Plate trophy, ensuring competitive action for all participants.

Everything is set and we are good to go. We have worked tirelessly with our partners and organising team to ensure a memorable finale. I want to invite all Busoga College Mwiri alumni, football lovers, and supporters of the Mwiri League to come and be part of this special occasion as we celebrate another successful season.

Guinness, a brand with strong ties to football culture, is returning as a central sponsor, aiming to enhance the finale experience with its signature energy. Beyond the football matches, the event will feature live entertainment headlined by acclaimed singer Lillian Mbabazi and the Sundowners Band, supported by top DJs from Kampala and Jinja.

A corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative is also integrated into the finale. Earlier in the day, various cohorts of Mwiri alumni will visit Jinja Regional Referral Hospital to donate a medicine storage machine, aiming to support and improve healthcare service delivery at the facility.
