JN Bank Confirms Luwanna Williams as New Managing Director

Luwanna Williams will take over as managing director of JN Bank on September 7, ending a gap of more than five months since former bank head Leesa Kow retired after a 22-year career.

Former JN Bank chairman Keith Levy served as acting managing director during the interim period. Williams brings more than two decades of experience in Jamaica’s financial sector and across the wider Caribbean. Her previous roles included corporate finance manager at JN Fund Managers, now Barita Fund Managers, until mid-2020.

Williams most recently spent nearly four years as president and chief executive officer of Proven Wealth Limited, overseeing operations in Jamaica and the Bahamas until March 2026. She began her career at the Bank of Jamaica and later held senior positions in the sector, including a role at JMMB Bank (Jamaica).

She becomes the second woman to lead JN Bank since it became a commercial bank in February 2017. Her appointment follows the confirmation of Sheree Martin as chief executive officer of National Commercial Bank Jamaica on September 1. Martin had served in an acting capacity after Bruce Bowen resigned in January 2026.

With Williams and Martin now heading JN Bank and NCBJ, women lead six of Jamaica’s eight commercial banks. The other women in top banking roles are Audrey Tugwell Henry at Bank of Nova Scotia Jamaica, Chorvelle Johnson Cunningham at Sagicor Bank Jamaica, Annique Dawkins at CIBC Caribbean Bank Jamaica and Eva Lewis at Citibank. In 2016, Jacqueline Sharp was the only woman leading a commercial bank, when Jamaica had six commercial banks.
