Jo Myeong-woo makes three-cushion World Cup history with record sixth title in Asia

Jo Myeong-woo has rewritten the Asian record book in three-cushion billiards. The world No. 1 defeated world No. 8 Dick Jaspers of the Netherlands 50-38 in the final of the 2026 Liège World Cup on the sixth, local time, to claim his sixth career World Cup title.

Jaspers appeared to have control early on. In the 11th inning, he produced a run of 11 points and moved 30-21 ahead. Jo answered in the 14th inning with an 11-point run of his own, turning the match around and taking a 37-34 lead.

Jo then added seven points in the 15th inning to extend his advantage to 44-34. He completed the 50-point target in the 18th inning, winning by 12 points. The final average was 2.777.

The victory lifted Jo beyond the late Lee Sang-chun’s five World Cup wins, giving him the most titles ever won by an Asian player. It was also Jo’s third World Cup victory this year, after wins in Bogotá and Ankara.
