Jonathan warns public against fake Instagram account

The office of former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has issued a strong denial regarding a trending Instagram account, @goodluck_ebelejonathan, labeling it as fake and an act of impersonation. The former president does not operate any personal account on the social media platform, according to his media aide, Mr. Ikechukwu Eze.

Eze stated that the account has been actively misleading the public by repeatedly changing its identity. "May the public take note that the account represents itself as a fan page at times and impersonates the former president most of the time," he said in a statement released on Friday.

The aide further revealed that the username associated with the fraudulent account has been changed 13 times. He expressed hope that Meta, the parent company of Instagram, would take appropriate action. The account's fluctuating presentation, alternating between a fan page and direct impersonation, is designed to deceive unsuspecting individuals, Eze warned.
