Jordan intercepts Iranian missiles; Kuwait reports power plant hit in second attack

Jordanian authorities reported that the country's military successfully intercepted three out of four Iranian missiles launched on Sunday. The fourth missile landed in a remote southern area of Jordan, causing no casualties or damage, according to Al Jazeera, citing Jordan's state news agency.

Warning sirens were heard in the capital, Amman, amid heightened regional tensions following Iran's attacks across the Gulf. The security situation prompted the US Embassy in Amman to issue a security alert. It advised American citizens to avoid Aqaba's airport and seaport due to a "specific and credible threat," urging them to follow Jordanian security directives and avoid travel to military bases.

However, Jordanian government spokesperson Mohammad al-Momani stated that no potential threats had been recorded by relevant authorities in the preceding hours and that no evacuation orders had been issued for Aqaba's airport or seaport, with both facilities operating normally.

Meanwhile, Kuwait's Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy reported that a power generation and water desalination plant was attacked by Iran for the second time in two days. The attack resulted in a fire in parts of the facility, affecting a significant number of electricity generation units. Firefighters were dispatched to extinguish the blaze. Kuwait's Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah visited injured citizens at Al-Adan Hospital, reaffirming the government's commitment to monitoring their condition amidst ongoing Iranian missile and drone attacks.
