Jorge Rodríguez Affirms Comprehensive Care for Children and Youth at Los Caracas Refuge

The Los Caracas Vacation City in Venezuela is operating as a large-scale assistance center, providing comprehensive care for children and youth, according to Parliament President Jorge Rodríguez.

The government is prioritizing the refurbishment of common and recreational areas within the complex for minors. The tourist complex currently shelters 287 families, comprising 12,400 individuals who lost their homes in earthquakes on June 24. Rodríguez noted that areas visited 14 days prior, which were still under construction, are now fully completed.

Work crews have expedited masonry and basic services to improve the quality of life for the residents. Rodríguez emphasized the goal of maintaining these "transitional camps" to ensure people receive the "treatment and attention they deserve."

State planning extends beyond the coastal region, with authorities managing a total of 107 camps nationwide. These shelters provide temporary protection for 21,470 people, according to official census data. Ministries responsible for housing are coordinating census allocations for the displaced individuals, who will eventually move into newly constructed permanent housing.
