Jorgelina Vidal dies at 54, remembered as a tenacious journalist and beloved colleague

Jorgelina Vidal died early Friday, September 4, at the age of 54, after battling cancer for a long time. She fought until the end without losing the strength, firmness and dignity that defined her life. Her death leaves behind an exceptional colleague, but above all, a luminous woman, an indefatigable fighter and a cherished companion.

Journalism was not merely Vidal’s profession. She understood it as a way of committing herself to reality. She studied journalism at the University of Morón, which shaped her first steps in communications and strengthened her connection to the territory where she lived and worked. Her home was Moreno, in western Greater Buenos Aires, where she raised her three children, Luca, Mateo and Francisco.

Vidal built a career marked by skill and commitment in newsrooms, radio studios and television workplaces. At Clarín, she began on the former news desk before moving to the Politics section, where she quickly demonstrated sharp judgment and journalistic rigor. She often recalled stories from her assignments and how she continued working while going through each of her three pregnancies.
