Journalist Răzvan Dumitrescu explains departure from Antena 3 after 16 years

After nearly 16 years with Antena 3 CNN, journalist Răzvan Dumitrescu has explained his decision to leave the prominent Romanian media outlet. In an appearance on the show "Ai aflat! Cu Ionuț Cristache" on Gândul, Dumitrescu described his tenure as "a lifetime" and acknowledged the "wear and tear" that naturally occurs in such a long professional engagement. He expressed a desire to explore new avenues, stating, "at one point, you feel that you want to do something else."

Dumitrescu reflected on the nature of a long career in journalism, emphasizing that there is no single formula for success. He highlighted his own diverse experience, having progressed through nearly every facet of the profession. His journey included roles as a reporter, editor, news agency correspondent, and radio host, culminating in television show production. "I've done pretty much everything that could be done in the press," he stated, underscoring the breadth of his experience.

16 years is a lifetime. It's the place where I've stayed the longest... There is also a wear that sets in and, at one point, you feel that you want to do something else.

His entry into television was somewhat serendipitous. Dumitrescu recalled applying for a sound engineer position at TV SOTI but was instead directed to perform a voice test, marking an unexpected beginning to his on-screen career. The announcement of his departure from Antena 3 CNN came on May 31, during the final broadcast of his show "Subiectiv," where he bid farewell to viewers.

Looking ahead, Dumitrescu confirmed he will remain active in the media landscape, though in a different capacity. Reports suggest he will continue his work with DC News, a platform he established with Bogdan Chirieac. For the time being, he has indicated that a return to a traditional television format is not on his immediate agenda.
