Journalist Slams PNL for Appointing Ex-AUR Member Peiu as Ilfov Chief

Renowned journalist and writer Cristian Tudor Popescu has sharply criticized the Liberal Party (PNL) for appointing Adrian Peiu, a figure with a history of shifting political allegiances, as the head of its Ilfov branch. Popescu highlighted Peiu's previous membership in the AUR and SOS parties, and his vote against the Bolojan government, questioning the PNL's decision-making process.

Peiu a trecut la PNL. Fake news? Sau Breaking News? Și una, și alta. Un anume Adrian Peiu, fost membru AUR, apoi SOS, apoi înfipt în PACE, micul trib parlamentar cu mingi de fotbal în loc de căpățâni, a devenit „brătian”. La moțiunea de cenzură, numitul Peiu a votat pentru „a scăpa poporul român de guvernul Bolojan”.

Popescu, who coined the term "traseist" (political turncoat) in Romania, drew parallels between Peiu's career and past political maneuvers. He recalled a conversation with Ilie Bolojan three years prior, where Bolojan had praised Popescu's integrity in blocking a significant bribe attempt during the Tăriceanu government related to the acquisition of Casa Scânteii. Popescu now views that praise differently in light of current PNL actions.

Nu știu care va fi fost obiectul trocului PNL-A. Peiu, de l-a făcut pe cel din urmă liberal în regim turbo și șef PNL Ialomița.

The journalist expressed surprise at the PNL's choices, noting that while Bolojan is seen as a competent administrator, his party's leadership appears to be making questionable political decisions. Popescu pointed to the replacement of figures like Thuma and Veștea with Marian Petrache, who has faced corruption allegations, and George Scripcaru, the mayor of Brașov, who is under investigation for multiple corruption cases. Popescu suggested that the PNL leadership's actions force him to reconsider his perception of Bolojan's political acumen.
