Jovina Gymnasium Parents Demand Changes to Temporary School Board

Parents of students at the Jovina Gymnasium have formally requested the provincial secretary for education, Robert Ototo, to revise the composition of the temporary school board. In a statement, they asserted that the current board's structure violates the Law on the Foundations of the Education and Upbringing System, as it excludes any members from the parents' council. The law stipulates that a school board should comprise nine members, with three representatives each from school employees, the parents' council, and the local self-government. The parents highlighted that the school's director, Radivoje P. Stojković, has been obstructing the formation of a legally constituted school board since September 2025. Consequently, a temporary board, appointed by Otot, has been functioning in its place. The absence of parents' council representatives on this temporary body is particularly concerning, as it will be involved in selecting a new director. The parents emphasized that a director chosen without their input would lack legitimacy and legal standing. They urged the provincial secretary to fulfill his duties and promptly amend the temporary school board to include their representatives, ensuring that future decisions, including the director's appointment slated for July, are legally sound and representative.
