Judge upholds arrest for attacker of woman disfigured in Milan

A 27-year-old Algerian man, identified as Mohammed Saidi, will remain in jail after a judge validated his arrest for allegedly disfiguring a woman with a knife at the Duomo metro station in Milan. The judge upheld the charges of permanent facial disfigurement, recognizing aggravating factors of futile motives and evident social dangerousness.

During his validation hearing at San Vittore prison, Saidi reportedly displayed hostility and offered a version of events that the judge deemed not credible. He claimed to have been in Italy for only a month, working as a plumber, and asserted that the woman had looked at him and insulted him, making him the victim. He also requested repatriation to Algeria.

The aggravating factor of futile motives was specifically recognized due to his alleged unprovoked attack on a defenseless woman.
