Historically, June 14 holds importance for Romania as well. The country commemorates the birth of Vasile Alecsandri, a pivotal figure in Romanian literature and politics. Alecsandri was a poet, playwright, folklorist, and statesman who played a key role in the 19th-century cultural and political landscape.
