Bulgaria's Justice Minister, Nikolai Naydenov, has formally requested the Supreme Judicial Council (VSS) to review the judicial rehabilitation of a convicted pedophile. The move follows media reports that have raised serious concerns about the individual's post-rehabilitation employment.

According to publications by "24 Chasa," the man in question reportedly received judicial rehabilitation. Subsequently, he was allegedly appointed to a position involving the supervision of children at a school. The reports further suggest that he was later re-convicted for similar offenses, intensifying the scrutiny on the rehabilitation process.

Minister Naydenov's referral aims to initiate a thorough investigation into how the rehabilitation was granted and the circumstances surrounding the man's subsequent employment. The case highlights potential systemic issues within the judicial system regarding the vetting and oversight of individuals with past convictions, particularly when they are to work with vulnerable populations.
