Kılıçdaroğlu reportedly displeased with Gürsel Tekin's conduct; CHP eyes new Istanbul appointment

The Republican People's Party (CHP) is reportedly preparing to appoint a new figure to lead its Istanbul provincial organization, a move stemming from internal disputes over authority and recent conduct. The party's Central Executive Board (MYK) is considering a new assignment to manage the organization's affairs, as current provincial head Gürsel Tekin's powers are in question following a court decision.

According to party officials, the court ruling has solidified Tekin's position, preventing his dismissal or the appointment of a successor by him. However, this ruling also limits his ability to reorganize the Istanbul branch. Consequently, the MYK believes it needs to appoint someone with the authority to manage and organize the party structure in Istanbul effectively. "We need to make an appointment that can act on behalf of the MYK and organize the party," a party official explained, clarifying that while Tekin and his associated 'call committee' cannot be removed, a new organizational appointment is necessary.

Adding to the internal friction, Tekin's behavior at a recent membership event in Istanbul, attended by party leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, has caused discomfort among MYK members. Sources within the party indicated that Kılıçdaroğlu himself was displeased, though he did not voice it directly. The conduct at the event was described as "very bad," with suggestions that Tekin might later regret his actions, which were seen as potentially embarrassing for Kılıçdaroğlu.
