K-pop group RESCENE's Sena named honorary ambassador for hometown Gyeongju

Sena, a member of the popular K-pop group RESCENE, has been appointed as an honorary ambassador for Gyeongju City, her hometown. The appointment was made on June 29, with the city aiming to leverage RESCENE's global influence to promote Gyeongju's rich history and tourism.

Sena, affectionately known as the "Silla Princess" due to her regional dialect and affection for Gyeongju, has previously showcased her hometown pride. The city believes that combining Sena's local symbolism with RESCENE's international reach will effectively attract younger generations and overseas tourists. Gyeongju officials stated that the group's selection was based on the significant global impact of K-pop and the need for relatable ambassadors.

We believe that with the significant global influence of K-pop, we need to select honorary ambassadors who can approach the younger generation and overseas tourists more familiarly. We have selected RESCENE, which includes Sena from Gyeongju, as honorary ambassadors who possess both regionality and public appeal.

RESCENE is expected to introduce Gyeongju's historical sites, festivals, and attractions to K-pop fans and the MZ generation in a friendly manner. The city anticipates that this collaboration will enhance its brand competitiveness and strengthen its image as a young and dynamic city. The official appointment ceremony will be held at a later date, and RESCENE will participate in various content creation to vitalize tourism and elevate the city's brand value.

Mayor Joo Nak-young expressed his delight in partnering with RESCENE, especially with Sena being from Gyeongju. He anticipates that the group's fresh charm will make them a strong ambassador for promoting the city's historical culture and tourism resources both domestically and internationally. RESCENE is also preparing for their comeback with the remake single 'Pretty Girl' on July 8.
