K9 units detect marijuana in Aguascalientes parcel services, seizing five kilos

Canine units in Aguascalientes have successfully intercepted significant quantities of marijuana on two separate occasions at local parcel companies. The drug enforcement operations highlight the ongoing efforts to combat illicit trafficking within the region.

The first discovery occurred on Sunday when an employee at a parcel company on Lovelia street in the Lomas del Chapulín neighborhood reported a strong marijuana odor emanating from a cardboard box that had arrived from Mexico City. Upon arrival, K9 units alerted to the suspicious package. An inspection revealed approximately one kilogram of green, leafy substance, identified as marijuana.

Just a day later, on Monday, June 1, 2026, state police officers seized an additional four kilograms of marijuana at another parcel service located on Avenida Héroe de Nacozari in the northern part of Aguascalientes. In this instance, a K9 unit indicated a specific cardboard box. Authorities opened the box with the company's permission, finding six plastic bags containing dried green herb consistent with marijuana.

Both seizures involved packages that had arrived via courier services, suggesting a potential pattern of using these companies for drug transportation. The confiscated marijuana has been transferred to the Federal Attorney General's Office (Fiscalía General de la República) for further investigation and legal proceedings.
