Kalju’s Situation Is Extremely Difficult After Losing to Flora

Tallinn FC Flora beat Nõmme Kalju 2-1, turning Kalju’s position near the top of Estonia’s Premier League into a precarious one.

Danil Kuraksin put Flora ahead in the 24th minute. Kalju equalized eight minutes later through Rommi Siht, who scored from close range, but Kuraksin struck again in the 45th minute to restore Flora’s lead. The player, usually deployed at full-back this season, had moved forward for the match.

Kalju attacked more after halftime, but Flora goalkeeper Evert Grünvald produced a strong performance to preserve the result. The victory secured Flora’s second-place position and gave them a four-point lead over Kalju.

Kalju have now lost four matches in a row. Paide Linnameeskond are two points behind them and Tartu Tammeka six points behind, but both teams have played two fewer matches. Kalju could therefore fall out of the top four, a significant setback because the top three qualify for European competition. If a club from the top three wins the cup, the team finishing fourth also receives a European place.

Pärnu Vaprus also celebrated a victory, beating Nõmme United 1-0. Kuressaare defeated last-place Narva Trans 3-1.
