Kano delegation visits Sultan, condoles Sokoto over Sardauna’s death

A delegation from the Kano State Government has paid a condolence visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, and the people of Sokoto State. The visit was to express sympathy over the passing of the Sardaunan Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji.

The delegation, representing Governor Abba Yusuf, was led by Deputy Governor Murtala Garo. It also included the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ibrahim; the Emir of Rano, Muhammad Umar; Kano State APC Chairman, Umar Doguwa; Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Aisha Saji; and other senior officials. They first visited the residence of the late Sardaunan Sokoto to convey condolences to the family, where the deceased's eldest son, Aminu Abubakar, expressed gratitude for the show of sympathy.

The delegation then proceeded to the Sultan's palace to deliver Governor Yusuf's condolence message. Sultan Abubakar III expressed his appreciation for the gesture, characterizing it as a testament to the strong unity and brotherhood that exists among the people of Northern Nigeria. He specifically acknowledged Governor Yusuf's thoughtful action, stating it reflected the enduring bond within the region.

Later, the Kano delegation visited the Sokoto State Government House. They were received by the Sokoto State Deputy Governor and the Secretary to the State Government, to whom they conveyed Governor Yusuf's condolences to the state government and its people. In his condolence message, Governor Yusuf prayed for the forgiveness of the late Sardaunan Sokoto's shortcomings and for his soul to be granted paradise, while also praying for strength for the bereaved family, the Sultanate Council, and the people of Sokoto State to bear the loss. Yusuf remembered the late traditional titleholder as a respected elder whose contributions to the Sultanate and Northern Nigeria would be long remembered.
