Kano deploys 1,889 personnel for Eid-el-Kabir road safety

The Kano State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has launched a significant operation for the upcoming Eid El-Kabir celebrations, deploying 1,889 personnel across the state. This week-long special patrol, which began May 25 and concludes May 31, 2026, is designed to enhance road safety and traffic management during a period of increased travel.

The deployment of over 1,889 personnel comprising Regular and Special Marshals across the state will ensure safer roads, smooth traffic flow, and prompt emergency response services.

According to the FRSC's Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Labaran, the deployment includes both Regular and Special Marshals. The initiative aims to guarantee safer roads, facilitate smooth traffic flow, and provide prompt emergency response services. The operation is a standard strategic activity for the FRSC during festive periods, which typically see a surge in vehicular movement on major highways.

The Sector Commander, Idris Lawal, emphasized that the operation's primary goals are to reduce road traffic crashes, fatalities, and congestion. To achieve this, the command has mobilized substantial resources, including 24 patrol vehicles, four ambulances, a heavy-duty tow truck, two operational motorcycles, radar guns, and breathalyers. These resources will be strategically positioned to ensure rapid response and operational efficiency.

The operation is aimed at reducing road traffic crashes, fatalities, traffic congestion, and other highway emergencies during the Sallah celebrations.

Lawal also directed all Unit Commanders and Station Officers to maintain aggressive visibility patrols and full operational coverage. The patrol will focus on critical traffic offenses such as excessive speed, dangerous driving, overloading, and the use of mobile phones while driving. Mobile courts will operate across the state for the swift prosecution of offenders, while emergency rescue teams are on high alert for prompt intervention in distress situations. The FRSC urged motorists to exercise patience and adhere strictly to traffic regulations to ensure safety.
