Kano gov pledges to tackle bandit attacks

Kano Gov. Abba Yusuf has condemned recent bandit attacks in four local government areas, calling the incidents disturbing and unacceptable.

In a statement issued by his spokesman, Sunusi Dawakin Tofa, Yusuf expressed sympathy to victims and affected families. He said his administration would work with security agencies to prevent further attacks, protect lives and property, and restore residents’ confidence.

“Relevant authorities have been directed to strengthen surveillance, intelligence gathering and rapid response mechanisms in the affected areas,” Yusuf said. He urged residents to remain calm, avoid actions that could heighten tensions and provide credible information to security personnel.

The governor commended security forces for their efforts and urged them to maintain intelligence-led operations. He also prayed for those killed, wished injured people a speedy recovery and called for the safe return of anyone abducted.

The affected communities include Chiromawa in Garun Mallam Local Government Area, Beli in Rogo, Bebeji and communities around Gwarzo.
