Kano gov unveils grassroots push for 2027 polls

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has initiated a grassroots political engagement strategy aimed at strengthening his party's foundation ahead of the 2027 general elections. The move focuses on mobilizing supporters at the polling unit level to consolidate the party's electoral strength.

The governor's efforts center on the APC Polling Unit Supporters Association, known as ‘Yan Akwatina,’ led by Najib Salati. This association boasts structures across Kano's 44 local government areas, 484 wards, and numerous polling units, positioning it as a significant grassroots mobilization force for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 remains the best political opportunity for Nigeria to consolidate the gains of the administration’s economic reforms and accelerated infrastructure development.

Governor Yusuf underscored the importance of President Bola Tinubu's potential re-election in 2027, viewing it as a crucial opportunity to solidify the administration's economic reforms and infrastructure development gains. He stressed that sustained grassroots mobilization is key to reinforcing the party's support base and ensuring victories in upcoming presidential, governorship, and other elections.

To bolster the association's capacity, Governor Yusuf reportedly donated plots of land and N100 million. His Political Adviser, Mustapha Bakwana, described the initiative as the commencement of the party's grassroots mobilization strategy, estimating the association's potential to mobilize over 1.1 million votes for Tinubu in the next presidential election. The association's leader, Najib Salati, pledged the group's commitment to working towards the party's success in 2027.
