Kano Governor Begins Monthly Support Programme for 5,800 Women

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has begun distributing monthly support to 5,800 women across the state’s 44 local government areas under an initiative aimed at reducing poverty and strengthening household incomes.

We are going to commence this empowerment programme for 5,800 women who we have selected from all the 44 local government areas of the state.

Each beneficiary will receive N50,000 through the Monthly Women’s Empowerment and Poverty Relief Programme. Yusuf launched the programme on Monday at the Government House in Kano and said the administration had secured funding to sustain it through December 2026.

These funds are readily available from now to December without any break or hitch, and all beneficiaries will get their empowerment monthly accordingly.

Committees representing the programme in each local government area will distribute the funds to beneficiaries. Yusuf said the initiative had continued since the start of his administration and urged recipients to invest the money in micro-businesses of their choice.

Mariya Bunkure, Nigeria’s minister of state for the Federal Capital Territory, represented President Bola Tinubu at the event. She praised Yusuf’s support for women and described him as a governor with a “big heart.” She also urged the beneficiaries to use the funds productively.
