Kano-Katsina road crash claims 12 lives as Radda mourns

Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has expressed deep sorrow following a fatal road accident that claimed 12 lives along the Kano-Katsina Highway. The devastating crash occurred at Gidan Mutum Daya around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday.

A head-on collision between a trailer and a vehicle associated with the Katsina State Transport Authority caused the tragedy. Six victims, including the trailer driver, died instantly at the scene. Six others succumbed to their injuries later at the hospital. Two individuals remain hospitalized, while five with minor injuries have been treated and discharged.

Governor Radda described the incident as heartbreaking and a painful reminder of life's fragility. He noted the particular sorrow of the loss occurring during the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, a sacred Islamic period. The governor prayed for the deceased and offered condolences to the bereaved families and the transport authority.

"We have lost precious lives in a heartbreaking and unfortunate circumstance. This tragedy is a painful reminder of the fragility of life and has plunged our state into mourning," Radda stated. He urged motorists to adhere strictly to road safety regulations to prevent future occurrences.
