Kano to unveil state-owned airline

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has announced plans to establish a state-owned commercial airline, tentatively named Kano Airline, expected to begin operations within the next year. The initiative aims to provide employment opportunities for indigenes who have completed professional pilot training.

The announcement was made during the 40th Executive Council Meeting in Kano, where Governor Yusuf also received multiple awards, including one from the Kano State Pilot Association. This recognition acknowledged his administration's commitment to supporting pilots through their aviation training.

By the grace of God, the proposed Kano Airline will commence operations within the next one year. We are committed to providing all the necessary support to actualise the project and ensure its successful operation.

Governor Yusuf expressed satisfaction with the performance of Kano-sponsored pilots trained in Jordan, stating his administration would continue to support them and create avenues for their contribution to the aviation sector. The Kano State Pilot Association chairman, Naziru Ibrahim, commended the governor for facilitating the revalidation of members' flying licenses and appealed for further assistance to obtain final certifications for international operations.

The proposed airline is a significant step towards developing the state's aviation capacity and leveraging the skills of its trained pilots. The governor emphasized his commitment to providing the necessary support to ensure the project's successful launch and operation.
