Kaohsiung: 69-year-old man caught shoplifting at supermarket, arrested while changing clothes

Kaohsiung police apprehended a 69-year-old man shortly after he attempted to steal groceries from a Pxmart supermarket in the Cijin District. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. on July 3rd, when store employees noticed the man acting suspiciously.

According to store staff, the man, identified by the surname Kao, was seen placing items, including fish and milk, into a bag without paying. When confronted, he dropped the stolen goods, estimated to be worth around NT$300, and fled the scene. Store employees immediately alerted the police.

Responding officers on patrol in the vicinity spotted a man matching the suspect's description, wearing a red shirt and attempting to change into a white shirt. Recognizing him as the individual who had just fled the supermarket, the police approached and apprehended him on the spot. He was arrested as a suspect caught in the act of theft.

The case has been transferred to the Kaohsiung District Prosecutor's Office for further investigation into the theft charges.
