Kaohsiung Bus Driver Critically Injured After Being Pinned Between Two Vehicles

A bus driver in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, is in critical condition after a severe accident where he became trapped between two buses. The incident occurred at the Baohua Station of Baonan Bus Company in Fengshan District.

The driver, identified as Mr. Zhang, 49, was reportedly attempting to stop a bus that had started to roll forward. Preliminary investigations suggest the vehicle may have moved because the handbrake was not fully engaged. In his attempt to halt the runaway bus, Zhang was caught between his vehicle and another, suffering critical injuries.

Emergency services were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report from the public. Responders found Zhang trapped between the two buses, having lost vital signs. He was immediately provided with on-site medical treatment before being transported to the 802 Hospital for emergency care, where he remains in critical condition.

Police are continuing to investigate the exact cause of the accident, reviewing surveillance footage and witness accounts. They are urging drivers, especially those operating large vehicles, to ensure handbrakes are properly engaged and to confirm vehicles are secured after parking to prevent similar tragic incidents and ensure the safety of themselves and others.
