Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts Presents "Harmony and Light: Li An-cheng" Research Exhibition, Showcasing 50 Representative Works from 30-Year Career

The Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts has opened "Harmony and Light: Li An-cheng," a significant research exhibition dedicated to the late artist. The display features 50 of Li An-cheng's most representative works, offering a comprehensive look at his creative trajectory over more than three decades.

Born into a farming family in Yunlin, Li An-cheng's early immersion in the natural environment deeply influenced his art. Despite lacking formal art education, he developed a distinctive and experimental ink-and-brush style through years of self-study and practice. His work bridges the gap between figuration and abstraction, transforming his perceptions, life experiences, and material explorations into a unique spiritual realm.

The exhibition is meticulously organized into four distinct sections, charting his artistic development through different phases of his life and creative environments. These include the "Keelung Period (late 1970s-1980s): The Beginning of Self-Taught Creation," the "Yangmingshan Period (1990s): Black and White Structures and Mind-Landscape Paintings," the "Tamsui Mangrove Period (2003-2012): Korean Paper, Large Formats, and Ink Liberation," and the "Move to Kaohsiung (2012-2015): New Visual Experiences, Southern Taiwan's Light and Topography."

Through these curated sections and accompanying research materials, "Harmony and Light: Li An-cheng" invites viewers to understand Li An-cheng's persistent inquiry into the essence of art and life, marked by continuous self-negation and reconstruction.
