Kaohsiung Police Find Large Methamphetamine Cache Hidden in Grass

Authorities in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, have arrested a 45-year-old man identified as Lu, who was allegedly involved in selling methamphetamine in the Daliao District.

The arrest followed an investigation by a joint task force comprising the Kaohsiung City Criminal Investigation Division, the Military Police, and the Linyuan Precinct. After obtaining a search warrant from the Kaohsiung District Court, officers raided Lu's residence. During the search, officers observed Lu exhibiting signs of nervousness, repeatedly glancing towards a patch of grass outside his home.

This behavior prompted officers to shift their search focus to the outdoor area. Their investigation in the grassy field adjacent to the traditional courtyard house where Lu resided uncovered over 20 packages of methamphetamine, classified as a second-class controlled substance. Lu and three individuals identified as drug buyers were subsequently apprehended.

Lu is accused of attempting to conceal the drugs in the outdoor grass to avoid detection. The Kaohsiung City Criminal Investigation Division reported a 23.97% increase in drug-related cases in 2026 compared to 2025, with a total of 3,020 cases. The division emphasized its commitment to cracking down on sources of dangerous drugs like methamphetamine to prevent them from entering the market and harming public health.
