Kaohsiung's New Jiurue Bridge Set to Open July 31

Kaohsiung's new Jiurue Bridge is on track to open for traffic by July 31, according to the city's Public Works Department. The project, which commenced in August 2024, is currently in its final stages, with remaining tasks including sidewalk completion, signage, and road markings.

The new bridge construction is expected to open for traffic on July 31.

City officials, including acting Secretary-General Wang Chi-chuan, Public Works Director Yang Chin-fu, and Transportation Director Chang Shu-chuan, recently inspected the construction site. They reviewed progress, road design, and auxiliary facilities like lighting, emphasizing the city's commitment to ensuring construction quality, traffic safety, and public convenience.

The new bridge incorporates several safety enhancements designed to manage traffic flow effectively. These include dedicated side lanes, bus pull-off areas, and separate spaces for left and right turns. This design aims to reduce traffic conflicts and improve operational efficiency. Additionally, speed bumps on community side roads are intended to naturally lower vehicle speeds, mitigating the impact of traffic on nearby residents.

The Public Works Department confirmed that all construction items are in the final phase, with streetlights already installed. Upon opening, the bridge is expected to offer not only a more convenient transportation environment but also improved safety for both drivers and pedestrians during nighttime hours.
