Karabağlar Municipality Employees Debut Play, Earning Praise from Mayor

The Karabağlar Municipality employees' theater group, Karabağlar Kent Tiyatrosu, staged its new play, "Bardakçı Baba," at the Yıldız Kenter Culture and Arts Center. The comedy, which delves into the effects of shopping malls and chain supermarkets on local culture through colorful characters and humor, is a testament to the dedication of municipal employees both on and off stage.

The script was penned by Yunus Emre Gümüş, with Onur Çatal directing. The production also featured choreography by Nejla Özge Alban and music by Engin Bayrak. The cast included Nevaf Bilmen, Burcu Gülbey, Engin Serep, Ersoy Aslan, Demet Emiroğlu, Mine Tomakinoğlu Otluoğlu, Bülent Kalender, Hatice Baran, and Tolga Canagir. Beyond their roles as actors, municipal staff contributed to the play's success through their work on sets, posters, and stage preparations, showcasing a collaborative spirit across different departments.

Following the premiere, Karabağlar Mayor Helil Kınay took the stage to congratulate the entire team. He revealed that the personnel theater was a dream conceived during his tenure, and the resulting production exceeded all expectations. "When we asked, 'Can we do a personnel theater?' we said, 'We can.' But to achieve such a professional step in such a short time is beyond my wildest dreams," Kınay stated. He emphasized the deep value within Karabağlar and the immense power of his team, who "create their own miracles despite all difficulties."

Mayor Kınay expressed his gratitude to everyone involved, from the instructors and actors to those who contributed to the stage design, posters, and overall preparation process. "We are now sharing moments where words turn into reality. While continuing their jobs and responsibilities, they have given Karabağlar more life, more breath," he said, conveying his pride and appreciation. The play "Bardakçı Baba," which received significant applause from the audience, is scheduled for its second performance in September at the Karabağlar Municipality Muzaffer İzgü Conference Hall.
