Karachi receives season’s first monsoon showers, light to moderate rain reported in parts of city

Karachi received its first monsoon rainfall of the season on Friday, with several neighborhoods experiencing light to moderate showers. Areas including Azizabad, Gulistan-i-Jauhar, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Sharea Faisal, and North Karachi reported rain, according to Dawn News.

In response to the changing weather, the Karachi traffic police issued an advisory urging citizens to exercise caution while driving. Motorists were advised to maintain slow speeds due to slippery road conditions. Motorcycle riders were specifically asked to stay on the left side of the road, travel at a reduced speed, and avoid unnecessary travel.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted continued cloudy weather with light rain expected in Karachi over the next three to four days. Earlier on Friday, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah had directed the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and district administrations to remain on high alert. He also instructed relevant departments to implement precautionary and emergency response measures as strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea were affecting the province.
