Karibi-George wins Miss World Nigeria 2026

Tamunosoye Karibi-George, Bayelsa State’s representative, has been crowned Miss World Nigeria 2026. She triumphed over 20 finalists at the grand finale held in Lagos over the weekend. The event, themed “Pride, Power, and Purpose,” featured various rounds including talent showcases and interviews.

Karibi-George, a 26-year-old from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, will now represent Nigeria at the 73rd Miss World Festival in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from August 9 to September 5. She succeeds Joy Raimi, who reached the Top 20 at the 72nd Miss World pageant in India and was among Africa's Top 5.

Ben Murray-Bruce, founder of Silverbird Group and former senator from Bayelsa, celebrated Karibi-George's win, calling her “more than a queen.” He highlighted her advocacy work through the initiative Beyond Labels, which supports the inclusion, dignity, and empowerment of children with special needs. “Creating safe spaces where every child is encouraged to dream boldly and realise that their circumstances do not define their future,” Murray-Bruce stated.
