The picturesque Czech spa town of Karlovy Vary is set to sparkle with cinematic talent as it hosts the 60th edition of its International Film Festival. The event, celebrating its anniversary and a rich history, will welcome a constellation of stars to its red carpet over the next ten days.

Esteemed actors Dustin Hoffman and Juliette Binoche will be central figures, honored with the Crystal Globe award for their significant contributions to cinema during the opening and closing ceremonies, respectively. The festival will also recognize other notable figures, including Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeffrey Wright, cinematographer Robert Richardson, and Czech actress Magda Vasaryová. Harvey Keitel is also set to return to the Czech Republic, while Kevin Bacon will present the horror-comedy "Family Movie" with his wife Kyra Sedgwick and their children.

This history has cemented its status as a "Class A" festival, alongside renowned events like Cannes, Venice, and Berlin.

Originally established in 1946 in the nearby town of Marianske Lazne, the festival relocated to Karlovy Vary the following year. Its current venue spans the scenic route along the Tepla River, connecting the Hotel Thermal, the festival's nerve center, to the Grand Hotel Pupp, a traditional lodging for stars and the site of exclusive parties. The festival's enduring legacy is a testament to its ability to overcome historical hurdles and maintain its standing as a premier global film gathering.
