Katseye Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard 200 Chart

Global girl group Katseye, a joint venture between HYBE and Geffen Records, has achieved a significant milestone by debuting at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart with their latest mini-album, 'Love Me Like That'. This achievement marks the group's first time topping the main US album chart since their debut in June 2024, surpassing their previous best ranking of fourth place with their second mini-album, 'Beautiful Chaos'.

The album sold 170,000 album units in the US by June 20, according to Billboard. This figure comprises 145,000 physical and digital album sales, 24,500 units from streaming equivalents (SEA), and 500 units from track equivalents (TEA). Billboard noted that this weekly unit total of 170,000 is the highest recorded for a girl group since the chart introduced its current album unit tracking system in December 2015.

Katseye was formed through the global audition project 'The Debut: Dream Academy', a collaborative effort by HYBE and Geffen Records. The group's formation and production process applied HYBE's established methods for discovering, training, and producing music and performances within the US pop market. The group consists of Sophia (Philippines), Daniela, Lara, and Megan (USA), Yoonchae (South Korea), and Manon (Switzerland), though Manon is temporarily pausing activities due to health issues.

With this number one debut, Katseye becomes the fourth female K-pop act to reach the summit of the Billboard 200 in the 2020s. They follow in the footsteps of Blackpink, whose album 'Born Pink' hit number one in 2022, NewJeans with 'Get Up' in 2023, and Twice with 'With You-th' in 2024. The group is also seeing success on singles charts, with their song 'Animal' from 'Love Me Like That' entering the Billboard Hot 100 at number 24. Katseye is set to embark on their 'The Eye Love You World Tour' across Europe and North America, beginning July 1 in Dublin, Ireland.
