Kazakhstan launches 2027 medicine procurement three months early

Kazakhstan's Ministry of Health has initiated its medicine procurement for 2027 significantly ahead of schedule, beginning the campaign on July 1, 2026, and starting inpatient medical care procurement on June 22. This proactive approach is designed to facilitate the prompt signing of supplier contracts. The goal is to guarantee that essential medical supplies reach healthcare facilities in the initial days of 2027.

The ministry reported extensive preparatory work, including updating regulatory frameworks, addressing pricing issues, and consolidating regional needs. Health departments across the country submitted applications detailing the required organizations, volumes, and delivery timelines. This comprehensive planning ensures that the procurement process is robust and aligned with national healthcare demands.

For 2027, the procurement plan encompasses 2,174 distinct items of medicines and medical devices. This initiative underscores the government's commitment to maintaining a stable and sufficient supply of medical resources for its population, even as it plans years in advance.
