Kazakhstan to Produce Li Auto, Omoda, Jaecoo Vehicles, Autonomous Trucks by 2028

Kazakhstan is set to significantly expand its automotive industry by launching the production of Li Auto, Omoda, and Jaecoo vehicles by 2028. This strategic move is part of a broader national initiative to strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities and integrate advanced technologies into the sector.

The ambitious plan follows recent state visits to China, during which key agreements were finalized. Beyond passenger vehicles, Kazakhstan will commence manufacturing of autonomous SITRAK semi-trailer tractors. Furthermore, a partnership with BYD is established to develop a comprehensive nationwide network for high-speed electric vehicle charging stations, signaling a commitment to sustainable transportation.

Commercial vehicle manufacturing is also a key focus. Starting in the fourth quarter of this year, Hyundai Trans Auto will produce 500 Volvo semi-trailer tractors annually. Concurrently, Barys Truck Manufactory, in collaboration with China's XCMG, will begin producing electric heavy-duty trucks.

In line with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's directives, automotive manufacturers are actively incorporating artificial intelligence and digital technologies. An AI-powered situational center is already operational, enhancing operational safety by analyzing data from surveillance systems in real time to detect potential risks and emergencies. Kazakhstan currently hosts 11 enterprises involved in producing various types of vehicles, with significant investments made in new plants like KIA Qazaqstan and Astana Motors Manufacturing Kazakhstan.
