Keanu Reeves reportedly joining new Lego movie

Keanu Reeves is reportedly set to star in a new Lego movie, reuniting with "Toy Story 4" director Josh Cooley. The film will blend live-action and animation, with the project centered around Reeves' character. Weeks of discussions have taken place, and the actor has given his approval to join the project.

This collaboration marks a return to the Lego franchise for Reeves, who voiced Duke Caboom in Cooley's 2019 Oscar-winning "Toy Story 4." That film achieved over a billion dollars in worldwide box office revenue. The Lego cinematic universe began with "The Lego Movie" in 2014, followed by a sequel and two spin-off films, "The Lego Batman Movie" and "The Lego Ninjago Movie," both released in 2017.

Beyond the Lego project, Reeves is also lending his voice to the Japanese samurai epic "Hidari." He will portray the title character in the stop-motion action film directed by Masashi Kawamura. "Hidari" expands on Kawamura's viral proof-of-concept series, which garnered nearly five million YouTube views. The story draws inspiration from the legend of Jingoro Hidari, a master carpenter from Japan's Edo period, and follows his journey of vengeance after experiencing betrayal and loss.

Reeves expressed enthusiasm for "Hidari," stating, "I'm thrilled by the vision behind Hidari." He added, "From the proof of concept to the developed script, the team has created something truly extraordinary. It has all the makings of an exceptional film – one I'm excited to see and eager to be part of. I believe this project has the potential to bring something very special to audiences worldwide."
