Kebbi Assembly elects new speaker

The Kebbi State House of Assembly has elected Salihu Dangoje as its new speaker, filling the vacancy left by the passing of Muhammad Usman in April. Dangoje, representing the Sakaba Constituency, was sworn into office following a motion moved by Muhammad Adamu and seconded by Lauwal Haruna.

He pledged to provide inclusive and purposeful leadership aimed at strengthening the state’s legislative arm of government.

In his acceptance speech, the new speaker expressed gratitude for the confidence placed in him by his colleagues. He vowed to provide inclusive and purposeful leadership, emphasizing unity and cooperation to advance the state's legislative agenda. Dangoje also extended condolences to the family of the late speaker, the Zuru Emirate, and the people of Kebbi State.

He acknowledged the support of Governor Nasir Idris and the people of Kebbi State for democratic governance and the state's development. The seat for speaker had been vacant since the death of Mr. Usman on April 6, who was receiving treatment in Cairo, Egypt. Usman had been elected speaker of the 10th Assembly on June 8, 2023.
